Fall is officially here and one of its sweetest traditions, apple picking, is underway! Although we haven’t made it to a local U-Pick farm yet, we’ve been savoring the next best thing: enchanting apple stores that capture the joy of harvest season. Here are apple books for kids that our family has borrowed from our local library multiple times.

Apples, Apples, Apples
Author: Nancy Elizabeth Wallace | Illustrator: Nancy Elizabeth Wallace
Join Minna, Pip, Mom, and Dad on their apple picking excursion! Farmer Miller of Long Hill Orchard gives the family a ride on his tractor and teaches them about apples. The story also includes an applesauce recipe, instructions on making apple stamps, and more! What makes this book special is that the author-illustrator creates the art by arranging pieces of cut paper to create a three-dimensional look. Learn more about this process on her website: Creating My Books.

Math Time at the Apple Orchard!
Author: Mackenzie Harper | Illustrator: Liza Lewis
Follow two friends on their apple orchard adventure while learning math concepts along the way. This board book introduces preschoolers to basic STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) ideas like geometry, counting, and measurement in an approachable, story-driven format. The combination of storytelling and learning makes math feel natural and fun, which has me curious about other titles in this STEAM Stories series.
